Isa, a seamstress living with her family in a small Costa Rican town, and her two daughters take great pride in their long, beautiful hair. They braid and brush it carefully, never cutting it. Alcides, Isa’s husband, wants a third child—a son. Isa, however, doesn’t want another pregnancy, she wants to focus on work and her daughters. When she realizes Alcides won’t listen and persists, Isa understands something must change.
