Refugio Nacional De Vida Silvestre Bahía Junquillal

Covering 505 hectares and established in January 1995 to protect mangroves and dry forests, this refuge encompasses seven coastal ecosystems, including the Rocky Zone. Within it lies Junquillal Beach, a 2 km stretch with amenities such as picnic areas, camping, trails, a bird‑watching tower, and more. It features two dry forest seasons: green in the rainy season and dry in the dry season.

Playa Copal

A windy brown‑sand beach in Salinas Bay, La Cruz. Copal Beach has gentle waves and few rocks, but its strong breezes make it ideal for extreme sports like kitesurfing and windsurfing, especially during the windiest months of November and May. It ranks among the world’s top five kitesurfing beaches.

Playa Matapalito

A gray‑sand beach with cold, deep‑blue waters stretching over 3 km, located very close to the Nicaragua border. Archipiélago De Las Islas Murciélago

The Murciélago Islands Archipelago is part of the Guanacaste Conservation Area and consists of five islands and ten islets. Among them, the islet “San Pedrillo” stands out as an excellent spot for spotting large fish such as bull sharks, manta rays, sailfish, and even whale sharks.

El Gran Susto (The Big Scare)

The “Gran Susto” is an underwater attraction near the Murciélago Archipelago in the Guanacaste Conservation Area (ACG). Finca Del Oro S.A

Since 1995, Del Oro has produced tropical fruit juices and concentrates in the border zone with Nicaragua, contributing to local economic development. Its orange plantations and processing plant sit on the slopes of Orosí Volcano, north of Costa Rica’s Central Range. The company employs 240 permanent workers and over a thousand during harvest season. The farm spans more than 3,000 hectares of orange groves for juice and concentrate production.
