San Lucas Island is a continental island located in the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica. In addition to housing the facilities of the country’s most famous former prison, the island has nine beaches, four of which are recommended for tourism and recreation. Its flora and fauna are similar to those of the dry region of Guanacaste Province, and wildlife such as bats, howler monkeys, squirrels, and iguanas can be observed.
