Costa Rica and México
Recently divorced, 72-year-old Violeta lives alone in her childhood house in Costa Rica, tending to her lush tropical garden and visiting with the ghosts of her parents. Determined to enjoy her newfound freedom, she takes swimming lessons and rents out a room to her instructor, a middle-aged Mexican with dreams of his own. When she applies for a loan to turn her property into a boarding house, she discovers the bank is about to take away her home.
With a perspective both intimate and feminine, the film traces the journey of an iconoclastic woman who is willing to break the rules to hold onto her home and her freedom.
